Principal's Post Dear Charger Parents and Families, An HISD Summative Assessment for Social Studies will take place on Monday and NWEA testing will take place this week for Math, ELAR, and Science. It is very important that students are in attendance and on time. In addition, we need every student to bring their Chromebook to school fully charged for testing. |
POMS Intent to Return To prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, we need all current 6th and 7th grade families to complete the Intent to Return formby Sunday, May 25. If you have any questions, please contact POMS Registrar, Kia Ward. |
Elective Course Requests The wait is over! It is finally time to choose electives for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the appropriate course request form based on your grade level next school year. Course requests will be open from May 11 - May 25. Please keep in mind the following when submitting course requests: - You may return and edit your submission as many times as you'd like. If you submit more than one entry, your most recent entry will be used. Any previous submission will be removed.
- You will receive a copy of your request once submitted.
- All IEP/504/Intervention requirements take priority over any schedule requests.
- Intervention will be required for any student who scores "Approaches Grade Level" or "Below Grade Level" on the 2025 Math and/or ELA STAAR test. This means a student could be put into a double-block (two classes) of MATH and/or ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS.
Additional grade-specific information is included with each form. If you have any questions, please contact POMS master scheduler, Ashly Vining. |
Chromebook Collection Students will turn in their Chromebook and charger by grade level on the dates listed below. If your student incurs charges for Chromebook damage, a POMS AP will email you a request to pay. Payments are made via SchoolPay. |
Chromebook TikTok Challenge - Safety Concern There is a concerning trend on social media where students are damaging their school-issued Chromebooks. This behavior poses serious safety risks, including electrical sparks and potential fires. Please talk to your children about the dangers involved. Students who participate will face disciplinary actions, loss of technology privileges, and a fee for the repairs. The safety of our students and staff is our priority. If you have questions about this issue, please contact Principal Vela. |
