Dear Charger Parents and Families,

Tomorrow we will celebrate Memorial Day. As we enjoy time with family, let us also take the opportunity to remember and express our gratitude to all the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. That includes our own family members, friends, and ancestors who served our nation. Best wishes to you and your family. I hope you have a safe and healthy Memorial Day. 

Congratulations to Our Name That Book Champions!

Our unstoppable Name That Book team has been reading with dedication and determination since May 2024 - and all that hard work paid off! On Monday, they dominated the competition and brought home 1st place in the 2025 NTB showdown!

We are incredibly proud of these outstanding readers: Liba, Joude, Elena, Iseoluwa, Blair, Helen, and Libby. You made us proud and represented our school with excellence and team spirit!

8th Grade Promotion Ceremonies

We look forward to celebrating our 8th Grade Chargers at our promotion ceremonies this week. Please plan to arrive at 2:00 pm, as all ceremonies will commence at 2:30 pm. Though there is not a limit on the number of family members who may attend, we are asking all families to complete this RSVP form to expedite the check-in process.

Splashway Field Trip

DUE TODAY: POMS Intent to Return

To prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, we need all current 6th and 7th grade families to complete the Intent to Return formby tonight Sunday, May 25. 

DUE TODAY: Elective Course Requests

Today, Sunday, May 25, is the last day to choose electives for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the appropriate elective course request form based on your grade level next school year.

Chromebook Collection

Students will turn in their Chromebook and charger by grade level on the dates listed below. If your student incurs charges for Chromebook damage, a POMS AP will email you a request to pay. Payments are made via SchoolPay.

Sports Physicals

A POMS Sports Physical Clinic is scheduled for Thursday, May 29 from 4 - 6 PM in the gym for current 2024-25 Pin Oak students. 

• Complete the Medical History portion of the Pre-participation Physical Evaluation Form and have your student bring it with them to the clinic
• The cost is $25 CASH ONLY
• Parents are not allowed in the gym
• No appointment needed
• Hold on to the form until upload instructions are available

Sports physicals are a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT for any student participating in sports at POMS. No student will be allowed to participate on an athletic team or attend practices without a current physical evaluation form on file. 

Sports physicals are good for the duration of one (1) year and physicals should be taken prior to the start of the school year. The form also can be completed by your student's physician.

We are truly on the final countdown now with only seven more days of school! With end-of-year procedures and celebrations in the coming weeks, we have to keep pushing forward and finish strong with behavior, academics, and attendance!

RSVP for Promotion Ceremony

Order Spirit Wear for Promotion Parade

Our 8th graders are encouraged to wear a shirt from their selected high school to show their school spirit for our Last Day of School Parade on June 4. Details below on how to order from Bellaire High School and Lamar High School.

• Bellaire High School: Will your 8th grade student be a BELLAIRE CARDINAL next year? Order online from the Bellaire HS spirit store and in the notes section, add your student's name. The deadline to order is May 28. Orders will be delivered to your student at POMS on June 2 during lunch.
• Lamar High School: The Lamar School Store is open Mon-Fri from 8 am - 3 pm. Parents can stop by the school and purchase. Please call the school store with any questions (713) 522-5960.

Volunteer to Chaperone Splashway Field Trip

We will still need parent volunteers to help chaperone the field trip on Friday, May 30. All chaperones must be VIPS-approved and will ride the bus with students. Please sign up here if you could be available.

Arrive by 7:45 AM for Splashway Field Trip on Friday

Our 8th grade students will celebrate the end of the year with a fun-filled trip to Splashway Waterpark on Friday, May 30th! Students should arrive at school no later than **7:45 AM** to ensure an on-time departure. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the park and brings any necessary items such as sunscreen, a towel, and a change of clothes. We’re looking forward to a great day of memories and celebration!
