Principal's Post Dear Charger Parents and Families, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers who love, nurture, and uplift our students and the Charger community. Today we celebrate you! |
Celebrating Our School The Houston Chronicle published a story on May 6 that listed HISD's most popular schools in the 2025 K-12 School Choice application cycle. HISD's most applied-to campus (not just middle school) during the first phase of the school choice lottery was Pin Oak Middle School according to district data! "Pin Oak Middle School is an application-only campus that offers a foreign language magnet program, where students focus on learning one or two languages such as Mandarin Chinese, Latin or Spanish for high school credit. The school reported the highest number of overall applicants among all HISD campuses." |
Celebrating Our Volunteer and Student Community POMS celebrated our incredible parent volunteers at our annual Cinco de Mayo Parent Appreciation Luncheon! Your unwavering dedication is the heartbeat of our community and was acknowledged by our POMS PTO being selected as HISD PTO of the Year. Thank you to Ms. Escamilla for the stunning decorations and thoughtful display. Our Chargers were treated to an awesome time at our annual Cinco de Mayo Tailgate. They enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, and live music from our amazing Charger Stage Band! Fun, food, and music in the courtyard made it a day to remember. |
POMS Intent to Return To prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, we need all current 6th and 7th grade families to complete the Intent to Return formby May 25. If you have any questions, please contact POMS Registrar, Kia Ward. |
Elective Course Requests The wait is over! It is finally time to choose electives for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the appropriate course request form based on your grade level next school year. Course requests will be open from May 11 - May 25. Please keep in mind the following when submitting course requests: - You may return and edit your submission as many times as you'd like. If you submit more than one entry, your most recent entry will be used. Any previous submission will be removed.
- You will receive a copy of your request once submitted.
- All IEP/504/Intervention requirements take priority over any schedule requests.
- Intervention will be required for any student who scores "Approaches Grade Level" or "Below Grade Level" on the 2025 Math and/or ELA STAAR test. This means a student could be put into a double-block (two classes) of MATH and/or ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS.
Additional grade-specific information is included with each form. If you have any questions, please contact POMS master scheduler, Ashly Vining. |
Chromebook Collection Students will turn in their Chromebook and charger by grade level on the dates listed below. |
Chromebook TikTok Challenge - Safety Concern There is a concerning trend on social media where students are damaging their school-issued Chromebooks. This behavior poses serious safety risks, including electrical sparks and potential fires. Please talk to your children about the dangers involved. Students who participate will face disciplinary actions, loss of technology privileges, and a fee for the repairs. The safety of our students and staff is our priority. If you have questions about this issue, please contact Principal Vela. |
Connecting with you is important to us and we are here for you: |
