National Junior Honor Society We proudly welcomed 103 new members into the Pin Oak NJHS last week. These students have shown outstanding dedication, leadership and heart. Congratulations to each of them! PSAT 8/9 scores are now available online! Parents and students can check their scores here. To access the scores, you’ll need to create a College Board account if you haven’t already. During account setup, you will be asked to provide general, personal, and parent information. | Register for POMS Color Run on Friday Pin Oak's annual Color Run returns on Friday, November 15, and your student will not want to be left out! Color Run is a fun run style event where students can leave class to hang out, listen to music, visit the Kona Ice truck, run or walk around the track, and throw color on each other in the Post Run Color Party. - Click here to learn what to expect on the day of the event.
- All students participating in the Color Run can purchase Kona Ice, so please remind them to bring money if they plan on purchasing a treat. Treats range from $4 to $7.
There are several options to participate: - Color Throwers ($50) throw color (included) on Runners/Walkers during the run. A t-shirt is included with registration. (Only 20 spots available per grade.)
- Runners/Walkers ($25) will run or walk 1 mile as Color Throwers bombard you with color. A t-shirt is included with registration.
- Spectators ($5) cheer on Runners/Walkers from the bleachers and can participate in the Post Run Color Party. A t-shirt is NOT included.
- After the run, join your friends in the middle of the field for a Post Run Color Party. Purchase color bags (sold separately for all participants) to throw on your friends. Your student must be a Color Thrower, Runner/Walker or Spectator to participate in the Post Run Color Party.
Tickets: Buy tickets here. Online sales end Sunday, Nov 10 at 11:59 pm. Tickets will be sold during lunch Monday, Nov 11-Wednesday, Nov 13 (cash and credit). We will sell Spectator tickets before school on Friday, Nov 15. Sponsor a Participant: If you'd like to make a donation to cover the cost of additional Pin Oak students to attend Color Run, please do so on the order form. Volunteers: We need parent volunteers to sell tickets at school and help support the event on November 15. All volunteers must be VIPS-approved. We also need to borrow leaf blowers for the event. | Help us Thank our Teachers and Staff with a PIE November 21-22 To show our 121 amazing teachers and staff how thankful we are for them, we want to send everyone home with a pie before the Thanksgiving holiday break. We need your help to make this a success. Please sign up to bring a whole 10" pie. Pies can be homemade or store-bought - non-refrigerated pies only. **All pies need to be delivered to POMS on Thursday, Nov 21 or Friday, Nov 22 by 10:00 am. We will have volunteers in the carpool line to help collect pies on Thursday and Friday morning. Can't drop off a pie but still want to contribute? When their pleas for help are rejected by the male-dominated union, the girls who work at Johannsen's Shirtwaist Factory band together to fight for a better life.
