Principal's Post
Dear Charger Parents and Families, Hello October! Thankfully it brings us cooler weather, unfortunately it is bringing lots of mosquitos, and finally it closes out the first 6 weeks! Monday starts our second 6 weeks. Please remind your child(ren) that we must continue to follow the safety procedures and protocols in place by properly wearing a mask (covering the nose and mouth) at all times in the building (except when seated at breakfast and lunch), sanitizing, and socially distancing as much as possible. Following these rules is nonnegotiable and will continue our success in keeping the Pin Oak community as safe and healthy as possible.
Remember... CHOICES MATTER! We are holding firm on wearing lanyards/IDs all day, getting to class on time, picking up after yourselves in the hallway and lunch, keeping your hands to yourselves, using appropriate language, and JUST BEING NICE! This is easy, but I sure appreciate your support in holding them accountable. Consequences have begun, so their choices ALWAYS matter.
IDs/Lanyards If students have lost their IDs or lanyards, they may purchase them at the main office student support table before school or during lunches. - Replacement IDs: $5
- Lanyards: $2
New Staff Members We are actively recruiting and hiring at Pin Oak Middle School to ensure that we have the faculty and staff needed to support all students as we maintain our safety and health protocols and implement new instructional expectations. Please help me welcome the following staff members to the Charger family.

There are only a few things you really need to bring on test day and a lot of things you'll be better off leaving at home. Please contact Mrs. Katty Warren, campus testing coordinator, if you have additional questions.
What to Bring: - Two No. 2 pencils with erasers
- An approved calculator
- Valid school or government issued photo ID (for students not testing at their own school and homeschooled students). If unavailable, use a notarized College Board Student ID Form.
- Homeschoolers: Bring this code, too.
- Epinephrine auto-injectors (e.g. EpiPens) are permitted without the need for accommodations. They must be placed in a clear bag and stored under the student's desk during testing. For policies on other medications and medical devices, contact Services for Students with Disabilities.
What Not to Bring: - Any devices, including smartwatches, that can be used to record, transmit, receive, or play back audio, photographic text, or video content.
- Protractors, compasses, rulers
- Highlighters, colored pens, colored pencils, mechanical pencils
- Pamphlets or papers of any kind
- Dictionaries or other books - there are no exceptions, even if English is not your first language
- Food and drinks - including bottled water - unless your school has approved these as a testing accommodation for a disability. Learn more about testing with accommodations.
See you soon,

| Charger Commitment Campaign Kicked Off on October 1 and Runs Through October 31
Dear Pin Oak Family,
Pin Oak Middle School is strong thanks to support from people like you. Though 2021 still feels uncertain, it's reassuring to know that Pin Oak has generous friends like you to count on!
To that end, we humbly ask for you to consider making a donation to the Charger Commitment Campaign. This annual campaign kicked off on October 1 and runs through October 31. Your contribution gives consistent and vital support to our teachers and staff, as well as provides and sustains essential school programs where the HISD budget falls short.
Please click here to donate today or learn more. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at commitment@pinoakpto.org.
We are so grateful for your support of Pin Oak Middle School and its unique programs - many of which are only offered because of your generous donations.
Sincerely,
Francyne Davis Jacobs |
