Principal's Post

Pin Oak Chargers –

We are continuing to plan and build our master schedule for the 2021-22 school year and look forward to having our students back in the building with us next year. Each of our Chargers received a Course Selection Form via their email this week. Our House Principals and teachers are ready to answer questions, so reach out if you need guidance in making your selections. We will give our new 6th graders more information at their orientation on May 13th.

Our PTO is already gearing up for next year. They are filling committees with volunteers, so please reach out to our incredible president, Tricia Onufer, at president@pinoakpto.org if you want to join them. Thank you, Tricia, for keeping us smiling and focused on kids!

Pin Oak Teachers – We are grateful for you! You have worked tirelessly this year staying connected with our students emotionally and academically. You switched from in-class instruction to online instruction to simultaneous with 140-160 students! You have handled people and situations with grace. Yes, we may have shed a few tears together as we’ve cared for children, but your smiles and attitudes continue to persuade and add hope during a difficult year. I hope you’ve felt valued and get lots of extra love and kind words from your students this week!

Thank you,

Michelle Shoulders

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. This May, we support the national movement to raise awareness about mental health to fight stigma and provide support to people with mental illness and their families.

This year's theme is "You Are Not Alone": focusing on the healing value of connecting in safe ways, prioritizing mental health, and acknowledging that it’s okay to not be okay.

POMS 8th Grade Class of 2021

We will be having a socially-distanced POMS Class of 2021 Celebration Day for the students only at school on Friday, June 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (times subject to change). This celebration will feature food, sweet treats, performances by the stage band, and more!

Depending on the participation level (we will need most of the 8th Grade Class to participate), we will also create a slideshow that includes all students who send in their photo, highlighting YOU, and where YOU are heading for high school! Wear your new school shirt, hat, hold a sign, or anything creative and fun so we can pay tribute to you and recognize you for all your hard work and years at POMS.

Please email your photo (including your name and house) to 8thgradeactivities@pinoakpto.org or text it to (713) 443-4808. Deadline is Friday, May 7th!
