Principal's Post

I want to take a moment to share a few updates and celebrations that highlight the great things happening at Pin Oak right now. There is so much to be proud of across our campus, and I appreciate your continued support in making our school community so strong.

Please note that we will be operating on a modified schedule this week. The schedule is provided below for your reference. We appreciate your flexibility and support in ensuring a smooth transition for our students.

Pin Oak is a No Place for Hate School
We are also excited to share a proud moment for our campus. Pin Oak has once again been officially designated a No Place for Hate school for the 2025–2026 school year. This continued recognition reflects our collective commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and kindness. Together, we are building an environment where every student feels valued and supported.

Pin Oak Technology Student Association
Additionally, our Pin Oak TSA students were recently invited by the Houston Education Foundation to showcase their Ideation Fund project at the Houston ISD Foundation State of the District event. This opportunity allowed them to present their creativity and innovation on a distinguished platform. Even more exciting, our superintendent visited with the students to learn firsthand about their inspiring work. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and representation of Pin Oak excellence.

STAAR Testing Dates
The first STAAR administration is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, for all 6th to 8th grade students. On this day, all students will take the Reading STAAR assessment.

To help ensure a smooth and successful testing experience, we kindly ask for your support with the following:

1. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time.

2. Students should bring their Chromebook fully charged.

These assessments play an important role in measuring student progress and academic achievement. They are also a key component of our campus accountability standards.

Our school has consistently been recognized as an exemplary campus, and we are confident that with your continued partnership, this tradition of excellence will continue.

Additionally, student performance on STAAR contributes to teacher evaluation measures, further underscoring the importance of each student’s best effort.

Please note that the campus will be closed to visitors on all STAAR testing days to maintain a secure and focused testing environment.

The detailed testing schedule is provided below for your reference.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to your child’s success. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The STAAR interim exam is available for any 6th or 7th grade student who is interested in meeting the criteria for Algebra I placement for the 2026–2027 school year. You may review the Algebra I placement criteria using the Algebra I Matrix linked here

Our next PTO meeting will be VIRTUAL ONLY on Friday, April 10 at 9:00 AM. Please join us on Teams here
