Principal's Post

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus on Monday and are excited to begin another productive week of learning.

As we return, we will be closing out the 5th Six Weeks progress report window. It is important that students remain focused and stay on top of all assignments so they can finish the grading period successfully. If you have any questions regarding your student’s grades, assignments, or assessments, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s teachers for support and clarification.

We also encourage families to check HISD Connect regularly to stay informed about your student’s grades and attendance. Staying engaged with these updates can help ensure your child remains on track academically.

If your student needs additional academic support, tutorials are available. The tutorial schedule is linked here for your convenience. Students have the flexibility to attend tutorials with any teacher within their grade level for a specific content area if their assigned teacher’s tutorial day conflicts with their schedule. We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities for extra help as we move through this grading period.

Please remember that attendance is just as important as grades. Students are required by the state to be in attendance for at least 90% of their classes in order to receive credit. Consistent attendance helps students stay connected to instruction and continue progressing toward success.

In addition, STAAR testing is quickly approaching, so please be sure to mark your calendars. It is extremely important that students are present on their testing days and arrive at school prepared and on time.

We also encourage families to visit the Pin Oak Middle School website for additional information about the Algebra, IPC, and World Languages Matrix, which outlines course pathways and options for students. Transportation information is also linked on the homepage.

Pin Oak Students Earn 2nd Place at District Name That Book Competition

Pin Oak’s Name That Book team delivered an outstanding performance at this year’s HISD district competition, earning 2nd place among a strong field of competitors. The event celebrates students’ knowledge of literature, teamwork, and dedication to reading.

We are proud of the time, preparation, and enthusiasm these students brought to the competition and appreciate the way they represented Pin Oak with such commitment.

Principal for the Day

On Friday, just in time to kick off Spring Break, Principal for the Day Onufer stepped into action and took the reins of the campus. Arriving bright and early, he jumped right into the role by leading the morning announcements and helping ensure the day started smoothly. Throughout the day, he kept a close eye on campus operations—monitoring the front office, answering phones, checking in visitors, and even delivering messages to teachers. With enthusiasm and dedication, Principal Onufer embraced every part of the job, making it a fun and memorable day for everyone involved.

We are also excited about the many upcoming campus events planned for the remainder of the semester. From athletics and fine arts to grade-level and campus-wide activities, there will be many opportunities for students and families to get involved and celebrate our school community. Please keep a close eye on the campus calendar for important dates, events, and updates.
