If you plan to attend the meeting in person, please make sure to arrive at least 15-20 minutes ahead of time to get checked in at the front office with your driver's license.

The Pin Oak MPR transformed into "Club POMS" on Friday night for the 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance. The kids ate their fill of pizza, gourmet popcorn, and sweet treats, danced the night away on the giant LED dance floor, took pictures with their friends in the photo booths, and left with a late night snack of Jack in the Box tacos!

We would like to thank POMS administrators, faculty, and staff for working extra hours to ensure the kids had a memorable 8th grade dance. We are also so grateful to the many parent volunteers who chaperoned and made the dance a safe and fun environment for all. We could not have done it without your help.

Finally, we would like to thank the 8th Grade Dance Chairs, Lisa Lim and Roxzan Zager, and their committee members for all of their hard work in planning the dance. These ladies knocked it out of the park! An incredible 345 tickets were purchased out of 375 8th grade students, and we saw a smile on every single one of their faces as they headed home!

Next up: Promotion Ceremonies! We will have more information about that as well as other 8th Grade Activities in next week's Charger Chatter.

Is your child moving on to high school? Has your child outgrown their school uniform clothing? Please consider donating their gently used uniforms to the POMS PTO Used Uniform Sale.

School dress code polos, khakis, jeans, skirts, sweatshirts, and jackets in all sizes can be dropped off in the collection boxes by the library.

It's finally that time of year! If you're interested in continuing your love for theatre then please come out and audition for intermediate or advanced theatre! Grab an audition form and monologue off the call board, and return to Ms. Henry by May 13!

Students must have completed a year of beginner theatre in order to audition for intermediate or advanced theatre. Contact Ms. Henry with any questions.

Audition Dates:

• Current Intermediate/Advanced Level: May 21, 4:15 - 5:30 PM
• Current Beginner Level: May 22, 4:15 - 5:30 PM

Is your child interested in History, possibly Gladiators or Renaissance Art or just good gelato? Join me at the information meeting about traveling to Italy summer of 2025. 

EF Tours puts together a great tour, and I have led several with Pin Oak Students. The Italian trip is going to be great, and we will even get to go to Gladiator School!

Pin Oak will be holding after-school auditions on May 14 & May 16 (to accommodate those who can't make one or the other). Your student only needs to audition on one of these days. We will be meeting in the cafeteria immediately after school and holding auditions from 4:00-5:30 PM.

Stage band Auditions will be on May 20 and 21 in the guitar room (D102).

Stop by the guitar room (D102) the week before to sign up for an audition time, and to ask any questions.

Attention 8th Graders: Your permission slips were delivered during Team Time on Tuesday, May 7. If you did not receive a permission slip or you have lost your original, please visit your house office for another copy.

Signed permissions slips must be returned by May 24 to your house office. If you do not return you signed permission slip, you will not be allowed to attend the field trip.

School Supplies for the 2024-2025 school year are now on sale! Purchase your student's supplies now and make it easy for yourself when school starts. Packs will be shipped directly to school and distributed prior to the first day of school!

Be sure to order the pack for the grade your child will be in for the 2024-25 school year! Deadline to order your school supplies is July 1.

The online school store is now closed and will reopen on July 1, 2024. All orders placed starting July 1 will be distributed at Charger Camp in early August. Unworn and unwashed items can be exchanged at Charger Camp.

All volunteers in HISD must register to be VIPS approved. Please register at least two weeks before your scheduled volunteer shift, as it can take three to five business days to complete the background check. Even if you were previously VIPS approved, you will need to register again as your approval expires at the end of each school year.

Also, be sure to download the free Membership Toolkit app on the App Store or Google Play, so you'll have the school directory and school calendar with you at all times on your mobile device!
