The 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance is this Friday, May 10, from 6:45 PM - 9:15 PM and we are SO excited for the kids to see what we have in store for them!

If you haven't yet purchased a ticket for your student to attend the 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance, you can still purchase a ticket online for $15 until Thursday, May 9, at 11:59 PM.Students may also buy a dance ticket during lunch on Tuesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 8, for $15 (cash only). In addition, tickets will be sold at the door for $20 (cash only). Please note that there is no physical dance ticket- your child's name will be on a list at the check-in table. If you purchased a Club 8 or Club 8 + Underwriter Package, one dance ticket was included in the purchase price. Students do not need to bring/wear their IDs. 

ONLY PIN OAK 8TH GRADERS ARE ALLOWED AT THE DANCE. No other grades, no other schools.

Drop Off & Pickup

The dance begins at 6:45 PM. Student drop off/pickup is in the front circle drive. Students should enter through the glass doors by the athletic fields. The dance ends at 9:15 PM. YOU MUST BE AT THE SCHOOL FOR PICKUP BY 9:15 PM! Principal Vela and school staff must stay until all students are picked up, so please be respectful of their time and be at school no later than 9:15 PM to pick up your child.

We are in need of VIPS-approved parent volunteers to make this dance a success! Please consider signing up to help out!

It is going to be an amazing evening with finger foods, a DJ, dancing, popcorn bar, candy bar, and more! Hope to see your student there!

HISD has changed NWEA EOY testing to May 28, 29, and 30. Therefore, our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremonies have changed to the afternoon: 2:30PM - 4PM.

The makeup date for the NWEA test is Friday, May 31; please note that missing one of the test dates means that your child will not be able to attend the field trip to Splashway.

EF Tours puts together a great tour, and I have led several with Pin Oak Students. The Italian trip is going to be great, and we will even get to go to Gladiator School!

If you plan to attend the meeting in person, please make sure to arrive at least 15-20 minutes ahead of time to get checked in at the front office with your driver's license.

Pin Oak will be holding after-school auditions on May 14 & May 16 (to accommodate those who can't make one or the other). Your student only needs to audition on one of these days. We will be meeting in the cafeteria immediately after school and holding auditions from 4:00-5:30 PM.

Stage band Auditions will be on May 20 and 21 in the guitar room (D102).

Stop by the guitar room (D102) the week before to sign up for an audition time, and to ask any questions.

School Supplies for the 2024-2025 school year are now on sale! Purchase your student's supplies now and make it easy for yourself when school starts. Packs will be shipped directly to school and distributed prior to the first day of school!

We are excited to start on a new adventure at Pin Oak Middle School with the Charger Dungeons & Dragons Club. The club will run the first and third Wednesday after school (4 - 5:30 PM) at Pin Oak Middle School. 

To indicate your interest in joining and details for the next meeting, students should complete the form below.

D&D Club Interest Form

The club welcomes players of all experience levels who have an enthusiasm for tabletop roleplaying games. We ask that players draft an origin story for a character they might want to play, and tell us why they are excited about playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Join the Pin Oak Middle School PTO and help the students, teachers, fine arts, athletics, and academic programs at our school.

Membership is just $10.

Membership must be renewed each year, as annual membership expires at the end of each school year on June 30.

All volunteers in HISD must register to be VIPS approved. Please register at least two weeks before your scheduled volunteer shift, as it can take three to five business days to complete the background check. Even if you were previously VIPS approved, you will need to register again as your approval expires at the end of each school year.
