Principal's Post

Dear Pin Oak Chargers and Parents,

I hope you had a fun and relaxing break!

It's been good to step back for a couple of weeks to catch up on sleep, look at the stars, eat, laugh, and enjoy the Houston weather.

As I reflect on the last several months and how we've had to grow during a pandemic, it's easy to think about the things I miss. The concept of Team jumps to the top almost immediately. We are used to setting goals, collaborating, thinking through the details, reading faces, hearing member voices, and getting work done at the highest quality. I love to grab a challenge together and I will admit I'm a hugger once we accomplish it! Tough goals and warm embraces every step of the way. It's what we do in education and life.

This year, we have been together through technology, sure, and have accomplished so much, but it's simply not the same. We are a part of the human race and are meant to be together. I'm constantly looking for ways to encourage others. I think it's essential for Teamwork to work. I want to be the best I can be so my team, whatever team it is, is better and stronger today than we were yesterday.

Below is a video clip of an interview with Kobe Bryant. It's a little long, but his words and encouragement to be the best YOU are powerful. I've never played basketball, so I certainly can't dribble with my left hand like he talks about, but his words of passion, relentless improvement, and resilience resonate to all areas in our lives.

Let's continue to set individual goals and not be afraid to work hard through each step. I miss all our Chargers and think about you daily. Stay connected whether you are in the building or learning from home. I have hope we will be together again for lots of celebration!
