Dear Pin Oak Families,

I hope you have had a wonderful summer! It is hard to believe that the first day of school is just two weeks away, and we are excited to welcome our Chargers back for another incredible year. We can’t wait to see our returning students and meet all of our new families!

Important First Day Attendance Information

The first day of school is Monday, August 10, 2026.

Students MUST be physically present on the first day of school.

Students who are not in attendance on August 10 will be unenrolled from Pin Oak Middle School. Once a student has been unenrolled, they will not be able to re-enroll at Pin Oak.

If you anticipate any issue that may prevent your child from attending school on August 10TH, please contact the school immediately.

Annual Student Update - Returning Students

All returning HISD students must complete the Annual Student Update (ASU) and all required district forms by August 7, 2026. This ensures your child is ready to begin school on the first day.

Please select the “Current Student” pathway when completing the update.

The attached English and Spanish FAQs provide detailed instructions.

Please complete your Annual Student Update using the link below if you have not already done so:

We do not want any delays in your child’s ability to begin school, so please complete this process as soon as possible.

Transportation

Students who require bus transportation should apply as soon as possible.

Transportation requests typically require 5–10 days to establish a bus route. Applying now helps ensure transportation is available beginning on the first day of school.

Apply for Transportation here.

🍽️ School Meals

Families who qualify based on household income and federal eligibility guidelines may receive free or reduced-price lunch. Families who do not qualify will be responsible for purchasing lunch meals.

Breakfast will continue to be provided at no cost for all HISD students.

We encourage every family to complete a meal application, even if you are unsure whether you qualify.

  • Food may only be dropped off for your own student.
  • Food for friends or celebration treats (cupcakes, cookies, etc.) may not be dropped off or shared.
