Principal's Post

Dear Charger Parents and Families,

Today marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, so don’t forget to turn your clocks back and enjoy the extra hour.

We will begin the 3rd Six Weeks on Monday, and report cards will go home on Thursday. With only fourteen instructional days until Thanksgiving Break, it’s important that students stay on top of their assignments and upcoming assessments. Daily attendance plays a key role in academic success. While we understand that some absences are unavoidable, we ask that students remain on campus whenever possible. Please remember that early check-outs must be completed by 3:15 p.m.

Also, as a reminder, parents may only bring food for their own child. We truly appreciate your generosity, but due to allergies and family preferences, we must adhere to this guideline for everyone’s safety and well-being.

Thank you for your continued support. We have many exciting events coming up, so please review the calendar of events below for important dates and details.

High School Recruitment Fair Nov 3
Pin Oak will host a Houston ISD High School recruitment fair for 8th grade students only on Monday, November 3 from 1:45 - 2:45 pm in the MPR. Representatives from area high schools within Houston ISD will be on hand to answer questions from students.

The National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony is Thursday, 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the MPR. We ask that all guests be seated by 6:00 pm. While there is no limit on the number of guests, we encourage families to arrive early, as we anticipate a large crowd.

No School Nov 7
There is no school for students on Friday, November 7 while our teachers attend professional development sessions. We'll see everyone back on Monday November 10.

POMS Color Run is Friday, November 14

Tickets on Sale Now

We are two weeks away from the Pin Oak's annual Color Run on Friday, November 14, and your student will not want to be left out. Color Run is a fun-run style fundraising event. With the purchase of a ticket, students can leave class to hang out, listen to music, visit the Kona Ice truck, run or walk around the track, and throw color on each other in the Post-Run Color Party. It will be held on campus during the school day.

Click Here to Learn What To Expect at the Color Run

Purchase a spot for your student to be a Color Thrower ($50), Walker/Runner ($25), or Spectator ($5). Color Bags for the Post Run Color Party must be purchased separately.

Registration for Color Throwers and Runner/Walkers includes a T-shirt, but T-shirt size is not guaranteed. Purchase a ticket early to get the size you want!

Online sales will end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 9.
We will sell tickets during lunch November 10,11 and 12.

Volunteers Needed

Please sign up to sell tickets at lunch and volunteer at the Color Run.

Thank you for your generosity and support! For more information, please email POMS PTO Color Run Chairs, Dana George and Amy Ripper.

A few highlights from the past week include:

Students in Fundamentals of Computer Science applied their learning through a hands-on project, designing and building cars and windmills from scratch using everyday materials to explore series and parallel circuits. A brief video of the activity is shared here, showcasing students’ engagement and problem-solving in action.

The POMS Academic UIL team earned 17 medals in recent competitions, with students placing in Editorial Writing, Modern Oratory, Number Sense, Spelling, and Ready Writing. These results reflect their dedication and strong academic preparation.
