Principal's Post

Dear Charger Parents and Families,

I hope that your family has had the opportunity to relax and enjoy time together over the holidays.

We welcome everyone back to school tomorrow! Please see Superintendent House's message below regarding return to school and COVID-19 updates.

Dear HISD Community:

Safety will continue to lead the way as we prepare to welcome our students and staff back to HISD on Monday, January 3, 2022. As part of our efforts to prioritize safety, HISD will continue to enforce its mask mandate at all district offices, facilities, campuses, and school buses.

To keep our school and work communities safe upon everyone's return, we strongly encourage that all students and staff get tested for COVID-19 before returning to school or work on January 3, regardless of vaccination status.

We have expanded partnerships with community leaders and health officials to provide additional COVID-19 testing and vaccination opportunities to our HISD community in the following ways:

  • Free drive-thru COVID-19 PCR screening testing on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the times and locations below:

  • Free drive-thru mega site to expand access to free COVID-19 testing at HISD's Delmar Stadium in partnership with the Houston Health Department. To register, visitHoustonHealth.orgor call 832-393-4220.

  • Free COVID-19 PCR screening testing on all campuses to HISD students and staff beginning January 2022. A one-time consent is required for testing and can be filled out in the following linkhttps://bit.ly/HISDC19Test.

Please note that all classes will resume in-person, but all non-athletic field trips, including enrichment or curricular trips are suspended until further notice.

Have a safe and prosperous new year!

Sincerely,

Millard House II

Thank You for Your Generosity!

Thanks to the generosity of the POMS community this holiday season, we raised a record-breaking amount for the Teacher & Staff Holiday Gift Fund and were able to present each teacher and staff member with a $75 American Express gift card!

We could not be more thrilled to be able to offer these gifts to our teachers and staff who work tirelessly to educate our children!

We would also like to thank POMS PTO VPs of Activities, Andrea Freedman and Lauren Blackburn, for coordinating the gift funds for our teachers and staff on behalf of the Pin Oak community.

A huge thanks to our amazing POMS PTO Staff Appreciation Committee Christy Smith, Joy Puzon, and Tassy Beasley who show our POMS teachers and staff how much they are loved and appreciated each month. Whether it’s breakfast tacos or holiday lunches, they are always working on fun and delicious ways to keep everyone happy and fed!

Finally, we would like to thank all those wonderful bakers (or buyers of baked goods) who provided delicious holiday treats for the staff at the Holiday Lunch on Wednesday, December 15.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed!
