Principal's Post
Dear Charger Parents and Families,
Last week was packed full of exciting events for students. I’m happy to share some photos below. All grade levels celebrated Red Ribbon Week and Pink Out Day honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month. |
Congratulations to our 7th Grade Chargers Volleyball Team on their undefeated season (7-0) and District WIN! Our Cross Country, Football and Volleyball teams crushed it this season. We had several nail-biting games this season, but we all know that Chargers do not give in when the going gets tough!
I’m continually impressed with the overall dedication of our students, our teachers and staff here at POMS. We have a few short weeks left until we wrap up Cycle 2 (Friday, November 12) and it’s been a truly successful start for our learners. Time flies when you are having fun and we are surrounded by such positive energy.
When we have incredible kids, supportive parents and the BEST staff working hard every day to support learning, incredible things happen for our community.
Fire Drill #4 This Thursday, we will have our fourth fire drill. Before starting the fire drill, I will make a campus wide announcement to reassure students that it’s only a drill and explain why we are practicing the procedures. Our goal is student preparedness in case of a real emergency.
Boot Walk to End Cancer The 2nd annual Boot Walk to End Cancer is scheduled for Friday, November 5. Students can purchase a wristband for $5 before school and during all lunches leading up to the walk. Anyone who makes a $5 donation is eligible to walk. All money raised by Team #kirbystrong will go directly to MD Anderson to support patient programs, research, prevention, and education.100% of the funds raised by walk participants directly support MDA’s mission to end cancer.

Happy Halloween! You know what's even scarier than a tween/teen hyped up on too much sugar? Not reaching our goal for the Charger Commitment Campaign!
We are SO close - but we need YOU to get us to the finish line! There are just a few hours left - have you made your donation?
If not, THIS IS IT! Make your donation NOW, by clicking here. The link closes at 11:59 p.m.! Remember, the dollars will be put to use THIS year to support our teachers, students and staff!
I hope to report back tomorrow morning with: 1. 100% of our goal reached! 2. An Astros win! 3. An M&M sugar rush that has subsided!
In all seriousness, it has been an honor to be the 2021-2022 Charger Commitment Campaign Chair, and to be your partner in raising these much needed funds for our school!
With sincere gratitude and appreciation for everyone who has donated and helped with this campaign,
